Negative experience
I had an appointment for highlights in Newmarket. I explained what I wanted and was asked if I wanted them light.
I explained that I didn't want thick ones but that I wanted them to brighten up my look. The hair stylist was lovely and I enjoyed my time with her. However, she failed to give me highlights. My hair went from dark brown to light brown.
There are no highlights. I brought my concern to her attention and she advised me that she could take out the toner or do them again. I told he that I wasn't comfortable with these options and preferred a refund. I didn't want my treatment or tip refunded, just the highlights.
She said that would be fine; but called me later to tell me that the company policy is no refunds. This is very disappointing and certainly does not meet the values of your organization. I am hoping that you can make this right. If not, my only option is never to return to First Choice.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Misinformed over the phone
I called First Choice this morning at your location in Brampton on Mount Pleasant and Bovaird, I was told no appointment was necessary but there would be a wait. I had no problem with that so I made my way over to this location and found no one outside, one person in a chair, another person cutting her hair washed and one man leaving.
So I stood behind the man at the required distance and when he left the lady asked my name and if I had an appointment and replied no I was told I would not need one. Then she informed me it would be a two hour wait because I was only going in for a hair cut. The two hour wait was because people had an appointment to I guess cut their hair dyed or something else. Therefore I was either to come back in 2 hours or come in another day.
What didn't make sense was the guy in front of me didn't get his hair dyed ???? By the way there were five ladies walking around I assumed waiting for the people to arrive. They said that the walks in just for a hair cut still required to them to clean the area. Really come on, I have short hair, didn't want my hair styled just a cut and didn't want it even dried.
Plus the fact I am a senior and walk with a cane.
First Choice, never again, to me its LAST CHOICE. Better talk to these people.

Find a good stylist if you can, but it is trial and error. Not all stylists listen well or competent to style hair as customer requests.

If you must go there you should make an appt.
Although they say they don't make appointments, they do online. I have been going to one for years now as a walk in and never had a problem till yesterday.
I was the second customer at about 9:20am. The stylist was who usually took 25 to 30 minutes to cut and style was done in less than 15 minutes on her first customer. During that time another lady came in with her son and although I was there first, they had made an appointment (its called a schedule online) for a 9:30 therefore I was told I had to wait about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Needless to say I was not happy and left as I wasn't waiting. She also from what I saw, rushed through her first client and I don't think she gave her the best cut she should have.
Even the client told me that she seemed to rush her cut. If that is the case then first choice has lost at least 2 customers in one day.
Go back to your original practice and get rid of online schedules.

Avoid middle aged indian lady in the Pioneer Park FC Haricutters
I went in for a trim. Was quite clear I wanted a trim, not a cut.
I was served by a middle aged Indian lady, for the last time I can assure you. I was the last one in the chair, first one out from 2 other occupied chairs, so processed for speed, not for quality. First cut of the scissors, a great lop of hair hit the floor, and again, I stated just a trim, just take off the ends as I wear my hair mid length. Don't know why she has ears, certainly not for listening.
When complete, I had almost no hair on the sides, longer on the top (to the point that I can pull my bangs over my eyes!), a complete disaster. If I wanted the cut of a school kid, I would have asked for that. As I'm older and my hair is grey, I can actually see my scalp on the sides! Is that what she considers a trim?!?
At the till, I stated it was quite short (trying not to be offensive or rude, but get my point across that I was not pleased with the outcome), she said look good for Christmas. Really? Good to whom, may I ask? I have had my hair cut in this place many times, and was satisfied with the results, but this woman should NOT be allow anywhere near scissors.
I really hope she reads this, I am guessing she is the shop owner (because she certainly isn't a hair dresser), so lady, stick to running the till and sweeping the floor, stay away from cutting hair and keep your customers returning. I, for one, won't be.
